The Abdulsalami Abubakar Institute for Peace & Sustainable Development Studies (AAIPSDS) was established in 2002. However, it became operational in the 2003/2004 academic session. Series of consultations and workshops were held with a view to setting out its objectives, mission, mandate and vision as well as programmes in order to realize the dreams of its collaborators. It is a novel initiative of a state tertiary institution, Niger State College of Education (NSCOE) and a Continental Non-Governmental Think-Tank and Advocacy Group, Pan-African Strategic & Policy Research Group (PAN-AFSTRAG).
